EXC!TE CYMBAL is a free VST3 and AU plugin designed for realistic cymbal synthesis, triggered by MIDI notes. This innovative plugin utilizes advanced physical modeling techniques to create authentic cymbal sounds, allowing users to craft a rich auditory experience.

The plugin features an integrated exciter that responds to MIDI input, enabling users to adjust essential parameters such as tip hardness and bell intensity. To enhance realism, the MIDI-triggered values can be modified using a probability curve, providing a more dynamic performance. The exciter connects to a waveguide resonator algorithm, which allows for detailed adjustments to tuning, decay, and damping, giving users significant control over the sound.

System Requirements

EXC!TE CYMBAL operates as a 64-bit VST3 and AU plugin, requiring a compatible 64-bit CPU and operating system for optimal performance.

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

• Memory: 4 GB RAM is the minimum requirement, although at least 8 GB is recommended for better performance.
• Free Disk Space: Approximately 25 MB is needed for installation.

Supported Operating Systems

• Mac OS: Version 10.12 and later (including compatibility with M1/Apple Silicon processors)
• Windows: Version 10 (other versions remain untested)
• Linux: 64-bit Intel/AMD processors; tested on Ubuntu versions 21.04 and 21.10, but should work on other distributions.

EXC!TE CYMBAL is compatible with any Virtual Studio Technology (VST) version 3 or Audio Unit (AU) compatible host. The plugin has been tested successfully with various popular Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), including:

Limitations

It is important to note that the audio sidechain feature in the PRO version does not function properly due to incomplete VST3 support in certain DAWs, specifically Samplitude and Presonus Studio One.
