RawPrime is a uniquely designed hybrid synthesizer that combines digital and analogue components, primarily sourced from telecommunications technology of the late 1970s and early 1980s. This innovative device employs a distinct synthesis method that deliberately generates aliasing signals, which serve as its primary sound source. Enhanced by an expressive analogue filter, a versatile matrix of modulators, two multi-effect slots, and a creative polyphonic arpeggiator, RawPrime is positioned to become a beloved synthesizer inspired by the aesthetics of a bygone era.

The Past That Never Was

Vintage synthesizers are renowned for their deep, rich sound, a result of the less precise manufacturing processes of their time. RawPrime captures this essence by utilizing numerically controlled oscillators (NCOs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that were characteristic of vintage telecommunications equipment. These components are expertly modeled to reflect the imperfections that contribute to their unique sound.

The internal architecture of RawPrime is designed to exploit the overtones created from these aliasing signals. A specialized 2-pole resonant low-pass diode-ladder filter processes the sound, providing an expressive tonal quality. To further expand its sound design capabilities, RawPrime incorporates a non-resonant high-pass filter, three envelope generators, and two digital low-frequency oscillators (LFOs), along with a comprehensive modulation matrix.

With its two insert/master effect slots and a sophisticated polyphonic arpeggiator, RawPrime is not only ideal for studio use but also performs exceptionally well in live settings.
